I want to have a Japanese Garden themed indoor wedding. Any ideas?

I've decided on orchid plants as my center piece, but what else can I incorporate to make it really special? We have a square wedding cake, what flowers should we put on it?

  1. Cherry Blossoms are really beautiful Japanese flowers. Also make sure you serve green tea with your cake. That is a really cool idea
  2. i would put orchids like on the tables, or what ever flowers are in you bouquets. you could also incorporate the symbol for love everywhere. it would be cute to use little take out containers in your colors for the favors, or you could give chopsticks. see if you can hang lanterns from the ceiling and maybe put some trees around so you get a garden feel. you could also incorporate rocks into the center piece. this theme could be lots of fun, good luck
  3. Bonsi Plants! Maybe some Japanese Fans, silk, decorated chop sticks, japanese calligraphy writing on the cake?
  4. Fish bowls with large rocks and water, floating flowers, simulating Koi pond *PLEASE* dont have actual fish, is a terrible idea, live animals shouldnt be centerpieces even if you dont think its morally wrong they could wind up dead which is just gross.
  5. Hang japanese umbrellas from the ceiling. Use japanese fans for favors. Japanese fabric for table runners. Origami.
  6. Here's a cherry blossom cake: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/113/275089942_4a8abb0200.jpg http://www.cakethat.com.au/two%20cherry%20006t.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1364/538954447_50098b6813.jpg Orchids are nice but what about something like this (I grew up in Japan and these feel more Japanese, orchids are more southeast asia like thailand and indonesia) berry branches: http://mokindo.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/centerpieces.jpg Cherry blossom and bamboo http://www.flickr.com/photos/40715137@N00/437196826/ Some other fun things: http://www.weddingshowergifts.com/images/graphics/recc_lantern.jpg http://www.laserimageworks.com/ http://www.weddingstyle.ca/Asian-Wedding.htm best wishes.............. or ...... omedeto gozaimasu
  7. Japanese design is all about hard and soft and simplicity. Nothing should scream at you. Japanese gardens have elements of water, wood, stone, and flowers. http://www.yugafloral.com.au/ is one of my favorite sites to send brides! Now if you want to put an American spin on it- Have your cake be decorated to be a pagoda. Use hanging flowers and viney flowers for decor on it. Have an entry arch made with rented trees with cherry blossoms encorporated into them to look like large cherry trees. Rent a water pond with a fountain. (they have small ones, we have one in our shop) Put plants around it. And have floating lanterns on it in memory of loved ones lost. Next to it have an arched bridge where people can have their photos taken to remember the day. Behind the bridge for a back drop have a Japanese garden. Have a path leading from the bridge to the main reception area. On the tables use orhids in submerged in h2o in a cylinder glass. Have river rocks, horsetail bamboo and wooden containers else where. Use very large hanging lanterns. For flower colors use complimenting not oposing colors.
  8. I'm not sure where you're located but try the link below.
