Hey, my dogs won't stop trampling my garden. Any Ideas or tips on how to keep them out?
They are built up flower beds.

- Get one of those invisible yard barriers, after a while of using it , they'lllearn and won't go near them.
- You know those baby fences that you put in front of stairs and stuff like that well just buy a couple of those and put them in front of your garden.
- Have your tried Cayene(sp) pepper flakes? My shephard loves to trample my flower and veggie garden, he eats green tomatos, I buy the flakes in bulk and they seem to help. They will also repel squirrels and bunnies. Make sure to reapply every few days or after rain or watering. If you find another way please let me know.
- Try putting a defensive plant (think cactus or other spiny plant) this may deter them from trying to dig or lay down on flower beds. You can find some really pretty succulents to add to beds. I have heard of garlic cloves buried detering cats but i don't think this would work for dogs. If all else fails there is this really nasty stuff called "fooey" or bitter apple that tastes and smells bad to them. You can get it at the pet stores.
- there is a smell available that dogs cant stand not sure of the name but it helps keep dogs away, Or u could disapline them everytime they do it straight after though other wise they wont know why they are in trouble Good pets stores will know the product for the smell
- Maybe you should train them a specific way train them to learn the word treat when they go outside and you tell them treat they will be to destracted with eating they won't even think about the garden.
- I know that they make a Bitter Apple spray for indoor areas. I have used it with my dog for different things. I am not sure if it works outside, but may be worth looking into.
