Is there anywhere that I can buy a Scottish Thistle plant online? I would like to find one for my mother-in-law's bday. I'd like a live potted plant (she doesn't have a garden to plant it in). I don't know if such a thing even exists but if it does and you know about it I'd appreciate your help. Thanks!! OK, OK I know it's a weed but it was also something sentimental to my father-in-law who had a tattoo of it and who passed away. Though it would mean more than roses - again. Thanks...

Planting in the garden during winter? This actually seems like a really simple question - can I actually put plants in the garden during the winter months? I realise there is the risk of frost, but surely that risk is also there for any plants put in during the warmer months? I'm just thinking its so mild right now, I can mail order some spring and summer plants online and get the gardening done early, before the spring. Am I mad for even contemplating doing any gardening in the winter? I got strange looks from people in the garden centre for buying plants in November, and they are all doing well! Cheers Richard
Buying Plants Online? I want to purchase perinials online without paying an arm and a leg for shipping or the plant itself. Im looking for like a walmart online that sells plants HA HA HA. I cant seem to find all the plants I need at the local Lowes for my pre made garden idea from BHG.com
Where can I buy plants/plant seeds? I'm new to growing plants, and as such, have no idea of where to buy plants or plant seeds. Specifically, I'm looking for Areca Palms, Mother-in-law's Tongues, and Money Plants. They are all really common indoor houseplants, but regardless of that, I'm still unsure of what store to find them from. I would prefer slightly grown plants, as I would rather not wait for them to sprout - but really, any online gardening store that carries some aspect of their growth cycle would be great.
Is there a good site to buy seeds online? I want to plant a garden this year. I'm gonna plant tons of flowers, and lots of vegetables. I might just buy the seeds online to save time. Is there a good site that is reasonably priced, and has a wide selection?
Where can I buy a lambs ear plant online? Hi I am interested in planting a lambs ear plant in my garden because I like to feel the fuzzy leaves. Im not really good at plants and what not (only grow tomatoes and cucumbers), and most of that is done by my parents, but I help out occationally. I dont really know where to buy it, though, and im not sure if its too late in the year to plant them. Should I just buy seeds or buy the whole plant? And also, how should I take care of it? (I live about 40 miles away from philadelphia by the way).

where can I buy venus flytrap seeds in store, not online? okay so I've looked through the website for questions and everyone says walmart. to be honest walmart and department stores, even ones that have garden centres, do not know how to care for carnivorous plants, and if you buy one from there it will likely die. Also, I want SEEDS, not the flytrap plants, so please don't tell me to go to walmart or home depot to get the plant. I am cultivating FROM SEEDS. thanks.
Online Shopping for QUALITY plants? Do NOT suggest the following, as I already know about them: Michigan Bulb Springhill Nursery Park Seed Wayside Gardens Glasshouse Works I have bought from Michigan Bulb before, but this year I was not impressed with the length of time it took to get my order (one month). Springhill is expensive. Wayside has some beautiful things, but a little expensive and not many ground covers (which is mainly what I am looking for). Ten points to the best answer for the best place to buy plants (especially ground covers) ONLINE (gas is too expensive to ride around and find nurseries) and in the US.
Does anybody know a great place where i could buy these beautiful flower/plants? Only two The Puya Alpestris or "Sapphire Tower" and Dicentra Spectabilis "Bleeding Heart"The white variety, not the pink or red or crimson ones. I been wanting a garden for so long and these caught my eye. I wanna know a reputable suggestion preferably from experience. Most people just look up the name online, I'm looking for something more.
What's a good online tool for garden design? If an online tool isn't available, I'd also take software suggestions. I'd love to have it also have plant suggestions, ect. I just bought a house and it has a lovely backyard that is all dirt at this point. When spring hits, I have to start planting!
Los Angeles, California: Where sells plant pot for gardening? Lately, I have been looking for a few gardening plant pots so I can plant a few things. I live in Los Angeles and was wondering if any of you knew of any place that sells these items. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help. By the way, I am not looking to buy the plant pots online so please suggest me actual stores I can drive to.
Why are online garden cataloges allowed to sell invasive species? For example here in NH there are certain laws about the sale and purchase of invasive plants, shrubs and trees. It is illegal for me to buy or sell these certain ones with in my state. Does anyone know why I can just get online and purchase them for my yard if my state finds them so invasive they have to create laws to inhibit the spread of them? I do see that there are SOME restrictions as to the sale of certain plant life to certain states, but the restrictions do not go as far as the invasive species lists.
Any tips for a beginner's vegetable garden? I live in Reno, Nv (Northern Nevada). I have a landscaped backyard with a flower garden, but I want to make a small vegetable garden that will I will plan and take care of by myself. I am planning to start it just outside the fence to my backyard. I will be buying live plants instead of seeds. It will not be attached to the drip system that my other plants use (where's the fun in that?) I plan to research the matter online and check with the nursery for information. I just wanted to also get advice from hobby vegetable gardeners themselves. Thank you for your time:)

Where can I buy a Plumeria potted plant? I'm looking for a Plumeria plant - potted, not cuttings. Does anyone know where I can buy one in person (I know I can order it online, but I need it by the 21st)? Is there a common store such as Walmart's garden center that carries it?

Will my heirloom tomatoes get cross-pollinated if I plant them close together in my garden? I bought some seeds online, and I grow nice, unique beauties I really enjoy. Will the seeds I get from my fruit still maintain the genetic integrity of the seeds I originally bought online? Or if they are cross-pollinated, will I see the result immediately growing in the first generation? --- will the flowers that got cross-pollinated produce an F1 generation immediately? Will these seeds usable?
Does anyone own an aero garden? If so: What did you think? Is it good quality? Do you know if the seeds contain anysort of genetic modifications or pesticides? Dictionary/Book of pharmacologically active plants? I'm looking into growing a garden this summer composed almost entirely of plants that benefit human beings. Is there an online dictionary or a book I could buy with information about the different types of pharmacologically active plants?
Question on Carnivorous Plants? I recently bought some carnivorous plants online but when they arrived through the mail they came bare-rooted. Before buying them I had read countless times on the company's website that they would you give you a description next to the plant if they would be shipped bare-rooted and since the ones I ordered didn't have one I assumed they would come potted but unfortunately only one did. Because I don't have a car, hardly any public transport where I live, and all the gardening centers are far away I haven't been able to get them there potting soil yet and I'm worried I might have to actually order some online. Right now my plants seem rather uncomfortable but very alive and I have watered them ,with distilled water of course, but how long can they last with only a small amount of soil and space before dying?
What exactly is an unrooted cutting? I'm shopping for Mexican Heather online and see this frequently. Typically I buy small plants from the local garden store or grocery. And of course everyone has heard of starting plants from seed. But please explain what exactly is an unrooted cutting and how would I use it to grow a full plant? Thankyou

Also, when i harvest them and take out the roots, will they continue to grow year over year even though I am taking out the roots? Thank you!!
Where can I find online an outdoor metal gazebo/room? Where can I buy a outdoor garden gazebo/room with the dimensions of anywhere around 10x10. I'm looking for a square shaped outdoor garden structure that is large, square and can grow plants on it. I.e. - if it has a top sun shade or has material/fabric on it, it won't work. Can DMT containing plants/seeds be bought in stores in the U.S.? I know that DMT containing plants can be legally ordered online, but are these seeds or plants sold in garden stores or home depot? Not that I would extract the DMT, of course... I'm just curious. DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) is a very powerful and short acting psychedelic tryptamine. It has been used in combination with Ayahuasca brews for years by South American shamans. It is found in the following plants: Acacia spp. (Maiden's Wattle) Anadenanthera spp. (Yopo) Arundo donax (Giant River Reed) Desmanthus illinoensis (Bundle Flower) Diplopterys cabrerana (Chagro-panga) Mimosa hostilis (Jurema) Phalaris Grass (Reed Canary Grass) Psychotria viridis Virola spp. (Epeña) Hope that helps- thanks for any responses, best answer will be given. Oh, and also... do they grow wild anywhere in the United States? If so, where?

What would you reccommend to a beginner for a foreground aquarium plant? I want something to cover my gravel like a grassy cover. I was thinking dwarf hairgrass but they grow too high. I want something small maybe 1 inch. I have cories so thats my main concern. I dont want them getting lost in the grass LOL. My main design for my tank is to have 3 tall plants and then the rest a garden of grassy plants. I know glosso and ricca is hard plant so what is there easy to buy online but is easy to maintain ? I also know that foreground plants arent easy to maintain but what is the easiest of all foreground plants?
Indoor herb garden help? I am completely new to gardening so I really have no clue about how to plant or care for plants. I am wanting to start an indoor herb garden, I just don't know where to start. I went to my local Saturday market and got an idea on which herbs I'd like, mostly for culinary purposes since I like to cook. So if I buy the already planted and partially grown herbs where do I go from there? Best potting soil, planters, fertilizers? What is the best combination of herbs to grow all together? I've done a lot of reading online but every site has told me different things so I am just confused. I need all the advice I can get, thanks :)
call out to all the garden and flower guru's out there!! i really really need help!!!!? i bought this plant at a produce stand and she said she thought it was a mexican petunia, so i brought it home and replanted it and it was looking pretty good, but now after about a month or so, it's starting to look like it's dying and i need help to save it!! i don't know if i'm watering it too much or not enough (i water about once a week) or if it's in too much sun (i have it in full sun and i live in central florida) i looked up online, but the plant i have doesn't really look like the pictures of a mexican petunia- the flowers look similar, but the plant itself actually looks like little mini palm trees- the stalks look like a palm tree and there's nothing growing on them and then the tops have thin leaves and then it does flower, although it hasn't been doing too much of that recently!! can someone please help me save my plant!!! thanks!!!

Where can I buy English Lavender seeds? I want to grow English Lavenders, but I'm kind of a newbie at this gardening stuff. Where could I buy the seeds? Would they sell them at any flower shop or nursery, or would I have to specifically order them online? Also, I'm planning on growing the lavenders indoors, because it's way too wet outside all the time, even though our plant hardiness zone is 8a-8b. I know French Lavenders are better for growing indoors, but I really like English Lavenders. If you have any tips for growing lavenders indoors that would be great. Do you know what kind of artificial light would be best for growing lavenders, and where I would buy it? (there's not much sun around here in Winter and Spring) Thank You!
Tomatoes look weird/Chili plant problem with pics! ? This is the first year that I have planted a garden in my backyard, and I am noticing some things that seem odd. When I first bought my vegetable plants, I bought 1 tomato plant that was alone in a container and a 6 pack of "Brandywine Heirloom Tomatoes" The one I bought alone has great looking tomatoes, but the ones that came in a group of six, look kind of like long pear shaped, they look completely healthy but are shaped kind of weird, I have searched online but have not found any photos of similar looking tomatoes. I searched for brandywine heirloom tomatoes and those look very different. maybe these will get fatter later?? any suggestions? I have 2 chili plants that are planted in the same big pot, but one of them has yellow chilis, while the other one has the normal green chilis, they are both in the sa,e pot.. pic below.. any ideas of why? Normal Looking Tomatoes: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k13/richie15_89/DSC00143.jpg http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k13/richie15_89/DSC00142.jpg http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k13/richie15_89/DSC00162.jpg Normal Cherry Tomatoes: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k13/richie15_89/DSC00146.jpg Weird Looking Tomatoes: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k13/richie15_89/DSC00144.jpg http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k13/richie15_89/DSC00161.jpg http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k13/richie15_89/DSC00141.jpg Red Chili plant problem: http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k13/richie15_89/DSC00157.jpg they are red hot chilis, but the problem is that one plant has green chili-normal, and the other one has them yellow, they are the exact same plant becasue they came in the same pot. And I do have the little stick that gives the description and picture, the tomato is suppose to be a brandywine heirloom tomato, but maybe the tag got changed while at the store???
How can rock phosphate, cottonseed meal, kelp meal, lime and compost be used in soil for different plants? I prefer not to use animal-based fertilizers, which means making my own. I bought the first four of these items to do that, but when I calculated amounts for a 5-6-5 fertilizer, they were very different from a recipe I found online (http://www.motherearthnews.com/Organic-Gardening/2006-06-01/A-Better-Way-to-Fertilize-Your-Garden-Homemade-Organic-Fertilizer.aspx?page=3). Also, I don't know how much compost to use in soil and by how much to reduce other fertilizers in it when I do, if at all. Our home is landscaped with small trees, bushes, hostas, ferns and flowers. I may plant bulbs this fall and I would like to grow some vegetables in homemade self-watering containers next spring using the earthbox method (dry fertilizer mounded under a waterproof cover) and grow wheatgrass and dirt sprouts indoors (sunflower, buckwheat and pea). For container soil I have coconut "peat", some of which I mixed with regular peat and perlite. I prefer these materials because Vermiculite is hard to find, expensive and energy intensive to produce (I'd prefer not to use perlite either for the same reasons, but thought it neccessary) and I'm concerned about the depletion of peat from peat bog habitats, but thought the mix needed some amount of it. I welcome your suggestions for affordable, ecological, effective potting mixes, especially for self-watering containers.
What to get for step mother in law? On mothers day. I know today is mothers day and it is late. But we won't actually be seeing here until later this week. I love this women to death. She and I are like mother and daughter. Were really close. I want to get her something special with out spending and arm and a leg for it. I was trying to find something online that have those cute garden signs. She loves to garden. I was also thinking about buying her plants BUT I don't know anything when it comes to the garden. Shes going to teach me next year. But anyways, I wanted to know if anybody knew of any websites that had cute garden signs, custome signs? I know that she loved the one that said "Nana and Pop pops Garden". But when we saw it two or three weeks ago they wanted like 45 dollars for this tiny thing. She thought it was way to much. Ideas??

Do cutworms go for adult plants? This is my first year gardening. I've got some herbs, tomatoes, peppers, squash, etc. All in all, I've done pretty well for it being a first try. Problem is, I'm losing all of my tomatoes before they have a chance to ripen. I've seen a squirrel running across the yard with one, so I know they've gotten a few. We bought the "scarecrow" (motion sensor sprinkler), and we're hoping it does its job. However, the last three or four days, I've noticed that the plants are disappearing from the top down. I recently put tomato cages up, so I was thinking maybe birds (because now they have a place to perch?). Tonight, though, I was training the plants, checking them out, etc, and I pulled a big, fat, cartoon-y looking green caterpillar off of one. I threw it off, not even really thinking what it could be. Later, I was looking something else up online (I think I have flea beetles on my eggplant), and I ran across pictures of cutworms-- and I SWEAR that's what I just threw off my tomato plant! Everything I read, though, talks about cutworms eating young seedlings and transplants-- my tomatoes are going on 3-4 feet tall, and I'm losing the TOPS of the plants. So, do cutworms eat adult plants? And, I'm growing all of these veggies organic, so what can I do to get rid of them, short of spraying pesticides?
What zone am I in, for gardening? Southern alabama.? I just recently bought a couple acres and I am interested in growing a large garden. I have been doing alot of research online and come across things that say "This plant is good if you are in zone 5..." etc.. How do i determine what zone I am? I am at the very bottom of the state in baldwin county.
Puffer fish figure 8 - fat tummies but very active? I have 2 small (1 inch) puffer fish figure eight and are one of the most adorable fishes I've ever had. Although I have at least a 60cm tropical tank with some other fish (not more than 3). I take absolute care of water, and tank as well as fishes doing my homework 100% in order to make the best of my fishes. My puffers feed on Live food only, diet includes fresh plants, beefheart, mussels and other live food. Since buying my lovely fish they're developed beautiful colouration, and looks lively, healthy and very alert. But one thing I have not seen in many books or online is there tummies or if they 'puff' up. Both there little bellies are puffed and look almost pregnant, surely however i cant have two females that are pregnant! I bought them from a respected garden centre and from a huge tank of many puffer figure eights. My fish get on well with all there inmates, I have been taking close look and no nips. Any ideas?Any ideas where I can also find more info on puffa please?
