Flower garden ideas for my front yard area? I know nothing about gardening so info please. Next spring I want to plant some flowers in the front yard. I have 3 areas in which to plant. There is a small planting area on the side of the house next to the car port. There is one of those big square wood areas out front that you can plant in. Then theres is a rectangle area in front of the porch where I wanted to put a bunch of flowers and those cute garden pebbles.

Looking for suggestions for a flower garden in Minnesota? I want to put a flower garden in the yard in front of my house, but I'm not sure what I would be able to use. Since that side of the house faces the west, it doesn't get sunlight until the afternoon. My flower garden has gotten out of control. Weeds and grass have taken over.? Grass in the yard got very tall due to my illness has prevented me from trimming and weeding. The grass in the yard went to seed and all the seeds fell in my garden and that has caused grass to grow in my flowers. I have many wonderful plants and don't want to damage them by digging them up. Also, because of the plants, I can't spray with a grass and weed killer. Another problem, there are fireant hills in many areas of the flower beds...please help with ideas.

Any ideas for planting a small flower garden around a lightpost? I live on the corner of my street and so on the very corner, I have and island of grass between all the sidewalks, that has a big city light pole in it. It is like a big rounded triangle. Maybe 5' by 12'. I live in zone 7 and was thinking iris' and pompas grass or some other sort of decorative grass. Any creative ideas or any tips would be greatly appreciated. My flower garden has formed a gel like substance around the base of some of the flowers. What could it be? It has rained for a couple days and now some of the flowers have formed a clear, gel-like substance around the base of them. They look like clumps of crushed ice-cubes at first sight. Landscaping/Gardening ideas, what type of flower bed can I set up? I want to set up this little corder with nice flowers that are seen and grow back every year ( but im sure my boyfriends parents will ruin it) but i wish to just make it a nice flowerbed . Mix annuals and perennials in zone 7 flower garden? I would like to have a mix of annuals and perennial to give me long standing color in the gardens at the front of my home. My soil is not very acidic and although I'm in GA, I don't have too much red clay. I get a good mix of sun and shade. I'm on a budget. When should you use fertilizer in your flower garden? I am a beginning gardner and just planted flowers in my flower bed. I mixed the dirt in the flower bed with bagged soil that contained fertilizer. Some of the flowers said on the tag to use a fertilizer treatment after planting them but should I not do it because the soil has fertilizer in it? Should I wait awhile? Any ideas for a pretty flower bed? my first one!? I live in a duplex with a small "flower bed" next to my front stpes. It's aprox 4 1/2 ft long and 2-3 feet deep. Can someone give me ideas on how to 'decorate' my new garden, please? I didn't really make much of an effort at my previous garden but I'm moving now and would like some ideas as to how to manage the new one. It's pretty long though I'm not sure of the length as I haven't had to chance to measure it yet but it's not very wide. Moonlight garden landscaping ideas? I'd like to create a white themed garden that looks pretty at night and will blend in my back yard corner area. I know that the moonflower is a good choice for a running vine. Are there any white flowering evergreen shrubs or other choices I can choose from also? "Garden theme" child's party in the living room... any ideas? My daughter is turning 1 at the end of March... and well, its usually pretty chilly that time of year. But it will be the beginning of Spring, so I want to have her a party with a flower garden theme. But, if its cold, we will probably have to do it indoors, so I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of things I could do in my living room/dining area to make it seem more like a garden for the little ones. Small Flower Garden Advice? I have a very small, sunny spot, round garden (5x6 approx.), currently with a small patch of established blue flax. I won't move the flax, as it is a beautiful bush like shrub now. I need to fill the rest of the spot with other things. I have experimented over the yrs, and never seem to get it looking nice. I live in Wisconsin. So winters are tough, summers short. Any ideas for perennials or annuals? Anything to beautify this small space??

Plz help, need ideas on a balcony garden? I have two small balconies (9'x3 1/2') and would like to get some flowers out there but with just one chair on each deck there is little room. Some things I have thought about trying; clematis vine if it would flower this year on the floor and could climb the railing, those hanging bags with holes in them you see around with impatients and such. I can not hang a basket from the ceiling outside as out balconies are cement. Any ideas are really appreciated!

Landscaping/Garden Ideas? Hi! I have a small plot in my backyard that is the shape of a half circle. Its about 8x4 9x4 ish. So its not a tiny vegatable garden but its not huge. The straight side of the half circle is also one of the sides that create our sqaure concrete patio. So it comes right off of the concrete almost creating this shape--- [ ]D. I thought a path right through the center surrounded by flowers maybe with stones. But im not in love with the idea. I love colors, i live in in seasonal new jersey and the plot gets a good amount of sun with slight shade from a near by tree. Any ideas would be sooo appreciated, pictures would be beyound helpful. Any creative ideas for watering my garden? I have a rather big garden, I have a butterfly and hummingbird garden, a veggie garden, and my kids have their own garden, not to mention the 3 rose bushes that line the garage and random flowers and plants around the perimeter of the yard. I feel like I am wasting water. I set my sprinkler up in each area for 20 minutes, that is almost 2 hours of watering! I love my garden but I would like to conserve water. I cannot afford anything too expensive. Does anyone know of any easy yet practical ways to achieve proper watering while still conserving?

Does anyone have anyone have any ideas on how to stop a puppy digging up the garden? My pup has dug several huge holes in my garden and tore up all the flower beds, is there any way to stop them doing this or is it just from boredom?
