Do artichokes come back year after year (in the garden!)? We were given a free packet of cornflower seeds which my husband happily scatter-sowed in our flowerbeds. This year I invested a good amount of money to obtain heirloom, GMO-free seeds (about 40 different kinds, various veg and fruit plants) to plant and grow this year. Growing my first vegetable garden! Need help!? 3 weeks ago I started a vegetable garden with my kids. We are growing lettuce, tomatoes, japanese eggplants and bell peppers. We were trying to keep the garden pesticide free so we've been picking bugs off, have beer out for the snails and use the dishsoap and water spray. The tomatoes seem to be holding up very well and have flowers on them but our poor little eggplant leaves are gone and have been eaten up :( will the eggplants still grow or is it pretty much done?! We didn't plant from seeds we bought and planted the vegetables as plants. Also some of the vegetables are growing little plants around them...do we pluck those off? They don't look like weeds but more like 1 leaf clovers...I hope that makes sense! Thank you!

How can I get my parakeets to eat fresh foods? I have two parakeets who aren't the least bit hand tamed, so any like I have read of pretending you eat it and then offereing it to them will not work. Anyway, I have tried several times with a lot of different foods I tried mixing bits with their seed (I'll get to that in a second) but they eat around it, I have tried to leave the food in the dish all day, but they just walk/poop on it, and I have tried only offering fresh food without seed and they just screamed the whole day. Foods I have tried are Banana, fresh peach, frozen strawberries (thawed), cherries (sans pit), mashed blueberries, seedless grape, garden fresh organic corn (I know it's garden fresh and pesticide free because we grow it) (off the cob), canned and fresh green beans, canned peas, peanut butter, graham crackers, boiled cabbage, crushed saltines, bits of boiled chicken (cooled). I said I'd get back to the seed thing, I am switching them to pellets as soon as possible, what brand/style do you reccomend? cont. I have been wanting to, but I am scared of low quality pellets that claim to be complete, but may not be, what kind do you use and reccomend, Currently, I am supplimenting their seed with vitamin drops because I don't have pellets and they won't eat fresh foods, how can I change this? Also, so I HAVE to sepreate them to finger train them? I bought my first parakeet, Riko, last year and he seemed lonely even though I spent hours with him, trying to train him, so I bought him a buddy, who WAS named Lola, but Lola is now Tiger because she's really a he. Physical Demands of Gardening? When I was in my early 20s I rode motorcycles. I gave it up in my late 20s for the safer hobby of scuba diving. Now in my early 30s, I spend most of my free time gardening. It's more physically demanding than either of my old hobbies! After a weekend of very nice weather, my hands have blisters from using the bulb planter (I was wearing gloves) and my back kills from kneeling over my beds planting seeds and seedlings, and my body aches like after a very energetic workout even though I'm already in good shape physically and health-wise. Yet, I see 80 year old men and women easily gardening all the time. What are their old-timer secrets to making gardening less physically demanding?

A field, the poor mans flower garden. Is this not so? The field, a poor mans flower garden when in the month of July. Without having to cast any seed, I can enjoy the blossom of God’s gift to this unassuming yet grateful Adam. I may walk that which is free for me to do so. To skim with the palms of my hands the tall grasses, uncut by scythe for generations. My tread is as thistledown, therefore leaving no scars to show where I have been. My walk is predictable and my eyes most keen for I know not what lies in secret places; though past July’s have told me where I may happen upon a patch of Lady’s Fingers and Thumbs, or Purple Tufted Vetch hidden deep between the Fine Bent, Couch, Broom, Silky Bent and Quaking grasses. A poor mans garden indeed though in my humble view; I would say it is a wise mans garden, for there is no preparation beforehand, the seasons are my tools. The wind my seed caster, the rains my watering can and the snows and frosts my spade. The sun in all of her morning glory is my field’s alarm clock, when all of my garden is called to awaken, and be refreshed by early morning mists, then to show forth in all of its glory, that which only a poor man can afford. where can i buy a jade vine plant or seeds? I visited Cambridge Botanical gardens yesterday and growing in one of their stunning green houses i saw the most dazzling flowers i have ever seen, a jade vine (check out google they have pictures of that particular flower). Its the most remarkable green/blue colour. I would love to grow one does anyone have seeds or a plant for sale please. I would recommend anyone thats interested to take a trip to The Cambridge Botanical gardens this may/june to see this and the rest of the gardens they rate as one of the best in the country and is free for under 16's and only £4.00 for adults (take a picnic)

Aveyond. I've been to the north, east, and wildwood, but I can't free any druids. What am I doing wrong? I've gone to the cave with the altar and the boat, I've collected the pomegranate seeds, but I still can't plant them with the lady in the garden. Is there something else I'm supposed to do first? I have read the altar, and when I go back to the garden, the lady asks if we'd like her to plant anything for us and rhen always answers no. I've even tried to activate on the Items menu and it won't work. Is this a bug? Is there something else I have to do before I go to the cave with the boat and plant the seeds? My characters are really advanced and I'd hate to have to start over. I've been looking for walkthroughs and haven't found a decent one. Thanks for all the responses!

Is the straw that is used for halloween decorations good for using on top of garden over winter and? tilling under in the ground in the spring? To break up clay soil and hopefully improve it? Or on top of grass and mowed over as a sort of mulch/fertilizer? I have been finding a lot of it thrown away in dumpsters and "rescuing it"...I don't know if it is expensive to buy, but free is the cheapest of all...guess I am becoming a hoarder...hard to quit dumpster diving when you find usable stuff...and lots of pumpkins for the seeds...also addicted to craigslist "free " stuff and curb alerts...LOL..Help! Are there any invididuals whom sincerely promote search of intelligence, wisdom and free thought? want to experience everything. I would like to play and touch the instruments of Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and their sheet music... I would like to go to: the Italian &, German Opera to the Louvre, Pyramids in Africa/ Mexico, Druid ruins in England, the Palledium and Collesium in Italy and Greece. I want to look at the statues of "old gods, and godesses" and statues of old rulers. I would like to trace the path of Alexander, Mark Anthony, Caesar, Hannibal and others. I want to swim with the dolphins, sharks, and climb the highest peaks and mountains, to see the volcanoes and fly a plane, and touch the bottom of the oceans.. I want to read the oldest books in their original texts and language. I want to compose opera and other music on the instruments of the "masters" I want to use the brushes and easels of those like Michangelo. I want to make statues and artwork with the clays of the world in the oldest of places. I would like to gather the seeds, plants and animals from the world and make a Eden. I'd like to take the olives from Italy, the dates from Africa, the tomatoes from Mexico etc... I'd like to go to the observatories/museums of the world, to sing opera... I would like to go to Spain and learn the flamenca/play the spanish guitar... to go to Orient and make the most beautiful fabrics... To breed Arabians and Elephants. Why isn't my Perpetual Spinach Growing up? I recieved a free packet of seeds for Perpetual Spinach on the front of a garden magazine, and read the article inside for growing it. The article stated that if planted in a propergator in late August, the half grown plants could be hardened off through late september and planted outside, where they would grow throughout the winter and could be used if individual leaves were picked and the plants were given time to regrow. The problem I have is that although I planted the seeds inside in the propergator, in Mid August, the seedling have grown to be an inch tall with just four or five leaves each, then stopped growing. They have remained like this, alive but not doing anything, since about six weeks ago and have made no attempt to grow bigger. I have potted them up into individual pots, each with its own little cloche inside the house on a windowsill with a radiator beneath, and still nothing seems to be happening.

Did we over react? My husband and I have a friend who we feel needs to grow up a little. He constantly thinks of himself before others, and we're a little tired of it. For example, he and his girlfriend broke up about a month before Christmas. Granted, breakups are hard, but come on. Move on. We found out that his mom was in the hospital for major surgery, and he was more worried about getting his ex back than his mom. This upset us, and we called him on his BS. Why can I never grow a Mango seed? Mangos are delicious! I want to grow my own fruits but its not working... Countless times I have tried to plant the seed into the ground of my garden or germinate the seed in a glass with water for a week, no luck. The seeds does not even germinate. Once it did grow 1 inch but it died when transferred to the ground.
